Clause: A part of a sentence that contains both a subject and a verb.
- An independent clause can stand on its own as a sentence.
- A dependent clause requires an independent clause to complete a sentence.
Examples:
“I’m going to play” (independent clause)
“Since you’re not going to talk to me” (dependent clause)
