Phrase

Phrase: A group of words forming a part of a sentence. There are several types of phrases: noun phrases, prepositional phrases, adverbial phrases etc.

Note: Phrases are different from Clauses.
A clause contains both a subject and a verb.
A phrase may contain either a subject or a verb, but not both.

Examples:
Some of the brightest people believe in heaven and hell. (Noun phrase)
Arjuna, the greatest archer of his time, won Draupadi’s hand. (Appositive phrase)
I sometimes surf at the internet cafe across the street (Prepositional phrase)
