Subject

Subject: The noun or noun phrase preceding the main verb in a sentence.
- in active voice, the subject is the doer of the action of the verb
- in passive voice, the subject receives the action of the verb.

Examples:
England was a great maritime power.
All of us want to succeed.
We have been asked to vacate the house by the end of the month.
The animals are being fed right now.
